City of Andrew Update
The City of Andrew is continuing to assess the status of its outdoor storm sirens.
The outdoor siren located near the Presbyterian Church is out of service and cannot be repaired. The City is still determining whether the siren near the Lutheran Church can be repaired.
Following discussions with Lyn Medinger of Jackson County Emergency Management, the City has learned that the State does not require municipalities to maintain or replace outdoor warning sirens. As a result, if the existing sirens cannot be repaired, the City may choose not to replace them.
City Councilman John Williams is contacting Emergency Management to explore whether FEMA grant funding or other assistance may be available to help cover the cost of replacement sirens.
The City Council welcomes community input on this issue. Residents are encouraged to contact a council member to share their thoughts and opinions regarding the future of the City’s outdoor warning sirens.
Water Tower Maintenance – July 16
The City would also like to notify residents that water tower maintenance is scheduled to begin on Thursday, July 16, in the morning. You may experience temporary fluctuations in water pressure throughout the day while the work is being completed.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.
